West. Trafford and Co. Wonderful Discovery

West Trafford’s Wonderful Discovery and Brownell’s Kidney Medicine. The former here sketched life size is of clear glass with a ball neck. Gus Gonet, local authority on bottles, dates it sometime early in the last third of the 19th century. Whether West and Trafford’s Discovery soothed internally or externally we leave to conjecture. Speculation is that Trafford was connected with the family of that name which owned the Westport Manufacturing Company. Thus it is possible that many mill operators had access to a company produce panacea that use of which somehow got him into shape for his next dawn to dusk stint at the spindles. Brownell’s label leaves little to question. What does remain a mystery is his identity.
