Herb Hadfield 1928 – 1989
“I’m going to turn around 180 degrees and take a big step forward. I’m building a log cabin in the woods and I’m not going to have any electricity, no telephone. I’m going to try to do it myself, and if I succeed in some of these areas, I can say, ‘Look what can be done.’ I can sit here and say, ‘This is great.’ We should use less power, and if I can do that, maybe I can share that with some young people. I’ll say, ‘Come in and see the way it’s working.’ ”
Known for his affinity with the natural world, Herb Hadfield was an independent thinker, artist, environmentalist, and lover of animals. The Westport Historical Society seeks your help identifying some of the photographs associated with Herb Hadfield.
