Commonwealth of Massachusetts Bristol S. S.. To Jireh Brownell constable of the town of Westport. Greetings.
You are hereby required in the name of said Commonwealth to notify and warn the Inhabitants of said town qualified by law to vote for County and Town Officers and in other Town affairs. To meet at the Town house in said town on Monday the first day of April next at 10 o’clock in the forenoon to act on the following articles, viz.:
1st. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting.
2nd. To choose all necessary Town Officers for the year ensuing.
3rd. To bring in their votes for three County Commissioners and two Special Commissioners, being
Inhabitants of different Towns in said County.
4th.. To bring in their votes for a County Treasurer.
5th. To determine the sum to be expended in repairs of Highways and the manner it shall be
appropriated.
6th. To choose a Committee to receive and examine all accounts brought against the town and to settle
with the Treasurer.
7th. To raise a sum of money for the support of Schools and determine the mode of appropriation.
8th. To raise a sum of money for the support of the Poor and other incidental expenses.
9th. To appoint their Treasurer Collector of taxes determine the rates of Abatement for
prompt pay at what time the collection shall be completed and the amount to be
allowed for his services.
10th. To see if the town will accept of a Town way laid out by the Selectmen from
James H. Handy’s southerly to the Methodist meeting house.
11th. To choose such other committees or agents as circumstances may render
expedient.
Hereof fail not and make return of this Warrant with your doings thereon to the Town Clerk at or before said time of meeting

Voted-that the School Committee be instructed to petition the Legislature for an allowance of this town’s proportion of the school funds of 1842-3-and to accompany such petition by a certified copy of the vote of the town raising the money for that year for the support of schools.
$1000.-Voted-that the sum of one thousand dollars be assessed on the polls and estates of the inhabitants and nonresident proprietors of the town for repairing the highways the year ensuing. And the Assessors are directed to assess said sum as soon as may be and deliver lists thereof with the persons names and the sum they are assessed-to each surveyor with his limits, according to law.-that one dollar be allowed for nine hours labor of a man or yoke of oxen.-thirty three cents for a plow-and twenty five cents for a cart-and in that proportion for more or less time.-and that the serveyor expend said sum according to law.

$1400.-voted-That the sum of fourteen hundred dollars be raised by way of tax (in addition to what maybe received from the State School Funds) for the support of Public School the year ensuing. That six dollars per month be paid to the teacher of the summer schools for the time school is taught not exceeding five months.-that the balance after paying the female teachers eight dollars per month for winter schools-be divided among the male teachers in proportion to the time taught not exceeding four months previous to the fifteenth day of March next on which day the amount shall be apportioned to such Districts as have by their Prudential Committees or otherwise made the proper returns to the Selectmen.
$1500.-Voted-That the sum of fifteen hundred dollars be raised by tax on the polls and estates of the Inhabitants and nonresident proprietors of the Town of Westport for the support of Paupers and other incidental expenses-to be assessed, collected and paid into the Town Treasury on or before the first day of March next.-and the assessors are directed to assess said sum in the way and manner provided by law and deliver lists thereof to the Collector as soon as may be.
The Committee on accounts made a report in writing. That they had tended to the duty assigned them and found due to the several persons named in the list presented by them the sums set against their names respectively amounting to the sum of $2631.87
the Committee further report that they find due from A.Brownell,
C.A. Church and Peleg W. Peckham to the town. The sum of $1948.04.
Leaving a balance against the town of $683.83.

Voted-that the foregoing report of the Committee be accepted.
Peleg W. Peckham chosen Agent for the Town the year ensuing.
Voted. That the several Prudential committees be authorized to select and contract with Teachers for their District.
Voted. That the Committee on accounts prepare and have printed a sufficient number of their Report for the use of all the Inhabitants of the Town.
Voted. That the School committee be requested to report among other things in detail at the next annual meeting-The state of the Schools in each district noting excellencies and defects in any.
Voted. That the committee on accounts be requested to further examine the notes held against the Town and select such of them as they shall think the interest of the Town and the condition of the Treasury require the payment of, and request the Treasurer to pay them forthwith.
Voted. That the Treasurer and Collector the requested to call on any former Treasurer and Collector who have in their possession books or papers connected with his office and take charge of the same.

You are hereby required in the name of said Commonwealth. To notify and warn the Inhabitants of said Town of Westport qualified by law to vote in Elections. To meet at the Town house in said Town on Monday the eleventh day of November next, being the second Monday in said month ,at 10 o’clock in the forenoon . To bring in their votes to the Selectmen(all on one ballot). For a Governor and Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth .For three Senators for Bristol District-for election of President and Vice President of the United States, for one Representative who is an inhabitant of congressional District mumber 9.-to represent them in the Congress of the United States of America for the term of two years from the third day of March 1845. And for one Representative to represent them in the General Court to be convened and held at Boston on the first Wednesday in January next.
The polls will be opened for receiving votes at eleven o’clock in the forenoon.
Also to act on a petition of Peter Davis in regards to his being set off from school district No. 14 and annexed to district No. 13.
Hereof fail not and make return of this warrant with your doings thereon at or before said time of meeting.

In the name of said Commonwealth you are hereby required to notify and warn the Inhabitants of said town of Westport duly qualified to vote for Representatives in the General Court of the Commonwealth. To meet at the Town house in said Town on Monday the twenty third day of December 1844-at 11 o’clock in the forenoon. To bring in their votes for one Representative who is an Inhabitant of Congressional District number nine.To represent them in the Congress of the United States of America for the term of two years from the fourth day of March A.D. 1845.
Hereof fail not and make return of this warrant with your doings thereon at or before said time of meeting.
