Anselm Bassett chosen moderator

VOTED that the Selectmen of Westport be authorized to confer with the Selectmen of Dartmouth and if Dartmouth will be [ I at one half the expense of the location of a new road from Petty’s old house to Bread & Cheese road & one half the expense of the purchase of the land over which such new road may be located & also one half the expence or more (as by the act incorporating Westport is provided) of working or making said road & their part of the expense of the future repairs of said proposed new road or that which is equivalent thereto & obtain proper security therefore, that then the Selectmen be directed to lay out such proposed road & report the same to the next town meeting to be held in Westport for their acceptance, and also that when the Selectmen of said Westport confer with the Selectmen of Dartmouth that they also examine into the expedience of making application to the Commissioners of Highways for the County of Bristol & report the result, or their opinion of such conference.

VOTED to adjourn this meeting to the first Monday in April next.
